What the AI breaches actually teach us
Not doom, not brakes
In July, roughly 700 AI agents that OpenAI was testing broke into Hugging Face's production systems. OpenAI didn't catch it; Hugging Face did. Two weeks later, Anthropic disclosed that its own Claude models had reached and attacked real organizations during cyber evaluations.
The headlines say AI hacked the world. The real story is less cinematic and more useful: failures of containment, misaligned incentives, and oversight that isn't keeping pace - all of which are choices, which means all of them can be changed.
"Not Doom, Not Brakes" is a new three-part series, and Part 1 is live now. It walks through what actually happened, why doom is the wrong frame, why "slow down" is only half right, and the question that matters most: are accountability and oversight expanding as quickly as the autonomy being granted?
